Natural Painting Workshops

Learn to make your own natural paints and inks using only plant pigments! Using the same principles as we do for dyeing, you will discover how to use natural pigments for use on paper, canvas, wood and fabric. During this 3 hour workshop, Katie will teach you how to:

• Make a lake pigment from a dye bath

• Make natural inks using dye plants & extracts

• Use pH modifiers to create new colours

• Grind and blend paints with a binder

• Use a glass muller and slab

• Make your own watercolour paint

You will go home with recipes to continue your paint making with plants from your own kitchen and garden.

We will have an intimate group with a maximum of 10 participants.

Note: This workshop is about how to make paint, not how to paint, so although we will have plenty of free painting time, Katie will not be instructing painting techniques. You can apply your own knowledge or just have fun playing.
