Mornington Peninsula: Natural Dyeing & Ink Painting Workshop
I’m so excited to teach for the first time in my hometown! Location TBC. Suitable for complete beginners, this workshop will cover a range of fun techniques including:
Bundle-dyeing (or eco-printing)
Dyeing with food waste
Dyeing with leaves and flowers
Dyeing with natural extracts and powders
Using plant and protein fibres
Using mordants and modifiers
Natural ink making
Included in the workshop:
1 x silk scarf to dye
An abundance of leaves and flowers and other plants
Natural dye extracts and powders
Natural inks to play with on paper
Tea & snacks
What you need to bring:
Closed-toe shoes
1-2 small clean, wet white item from home that we can mordant and dye together (preferably silk but can also be cotton, linen, hemp or bamboo). Some suggestions include a tea towel, pillowcase, single top, small thsirt or any item of similar size.
A plastic bag or green bag for taking home your wet fabric.
Any plants from home that you’d like to try dyeing with (some suggestions include onion skins, geraniums, roses, hibiscus, lisianthus, delphinium, marigold, cosmos, cornflowers, butterfly pea, eucalyptus leaves.)
