Our story

Founded in 2018 in Melbourne, Australia by Katie Wilkins, Studio Tinta began as a slow textiles studio selling hand-dyed and hand-painted pillowcases and homewares made with natural fibres and plant dyes.

After three years of selling at markets at via the online store, Studio Tinta was frequently selling out of each batch of pillowcases and was featured in media like Frankie, Peppermint Magazine, Broadsheet and Vogue.

In 2021, Studio Tinta began running online tutorials and hosting in-person workshops to teach students how to create their own unique textiles using natural materials, and make their own natural paints using plant and earth pigments.

Today, Studio Tinta is a woman-run business committed to providing excellent natural colour education and products made from earth and plant materials.

We hope our business encourages people to create art using natural materials, and learn how to reuse, upcycle and save textiles from landfill.

Studio Tinta is located on Awabakal land in New South Wales, Australia.
